Scarefest 2025 Review – Alton Towers’ Spookiest Year Yet 🎃

Alton Towers Scarefest 2025 Review

Alton Towers’ Scarefest 2025 has landed, and this year’s event feels like the big refresh the park desperately needed. With new attractions, atmospheric improvements, and a much stronger line-up, Scarefest 2025 delivers thrills, chills, and plenty of surprises for both hardcore horror fans and families alike.

Last year’s event left many fans feeling flat, but this season Alton Towers has clearly listened. From extra props and eerie theming spread across the park (rather than confined to Towers Street) to fresh scares and new storylines, the park feels alive with Halloween spirit again.

Let’s dive into the attractions that make Scarefest 2025 one of the strongest in recent years.

Scare Mazes (Thrill Seekers Only!)

Edge of the Forest 🌲👻

The big new addition for 2025, Edge of the Forest, sets a new benchmark for Scarefest theming. With stunning set design, immersive storytelling, and disorienting pathways that make you feel lost in the woods, it’s a feast for the senses. Costumes were top-notch and the smells added an extra layer of unpleasant authenticity! While it didn’t pack the same level of raw terror as some past mazes, it’s still a brilliant addition that fits Scarefest perfectly.

Compound 🔥

Back for a second year, Compound has stepped up its game to become the standout maze of 2025. With relentless scares, unpredictable routes, and an intensity that keeps you constantly on edge, this is Scarefest at its best. Actors delivered non-stop energy, and the theming tied everything together for an unforgettable experience. Easily the scariest attraction of the year.

Altonville Mine Tours: Tiny’s Revenge ⛏️

After a decade at Scarefest, Altonville Mine Tours is showing its age, but it still delivers a nostalgic thrill. Descending into the mines remains surreal, and while some sections lacked actors, the interactions that were there hit hard. The chainsaw finale with Tiny’s Revenge is still a fantastic way to close out the maze – proof that some classics still have life left in them.

Family-Friendly Attractions

Trick or Treat Town 🍬🏘️

Now in its fifth year, Trick or Treat Town remains a delightful family experience. From knocking on doors to collect treats to charming character interactions, it’s an immersive and light-hearted Halloween adventure. The only disappointment? Photography and filming aren’t allowed inside – which is a shame given the many Instagram-worthy scenes.

Scare Zones

Dark Hollow 🌑

Brand new for 2025, Dark Hollow is a free-flow scare zone that completely blew me away. Best experienced at night, the level of detail, atmospheric props, and clever reuse of costumes from previous mazes made it a highlight of the entire event. It’s long, engaging, and filled with brilliant actor interactions – easily one of the strongest new additions.

Burial Grounds ⚰️🔥

Overlooked by the mighty Wicker Man, Burial Grounds returns for its third year and remains as immersive as ever. At night it’s particularly chilling, with intense scares and great theming. While still strong, it might be time for Alton Towers to refresh or replace it in 2026. That said, as a free scare zone you can re-enter again and again – making it a fan favourite.

Final Thoughts on Scarefest 2025

Overall, Scarefest 2025 at Alton Towers is a massive improvement over last year. The park feels more atmospheric, the maze line-up is stronger, and the new additions (particularly Dark Hollow and Compound) raise the bar for future events.

The only drawback? The Courtyard stage area felt far too cramped for the live entertainment – Fountain Square would have been a much better fit. Still, that’s a small issue in what is otherwise a stellar year for Scarefest.

If you love Halloween events, haunted mazes, and spooky atmosphere, Scarefest 2025 is absolutely worth visiting. I’m already planning my return later this season! Get your tickets today on the official Alton Towers Website.
