As the 2025 season draws to a close, we asked you, the Alton Towers fandom, to tell us which rides top your list this year. In June, we launched a poll on altontowersfandom.co.uk, and after receiving an incredible 3,016 votes, the results are finally in.
From family favourites to adrenaline-pumping rollercoasters, here’s the official Alton Towers Fandom Top 20 Rides of 2025 – ranked by you! Tickets are available on the official Alton Towers Website.
20. Heave Ho ⚓
“Avast ye landlubbers!” This pirate-themed family flat ride brings waves of laughter as little ones set sail for the seven seas. Beware though – the storm is brewing and it won’t be plain sailing!
19. Marauder’s Mayhem 🌀
A teacup-style spinning ride, but with a swashbuckling twist. Spin your own barrel and dodge those audio “bombs” – perfect family fun.
18. Gangsta Granny: The Ride 💎
Based on the David Walliams story, this dark ride is packed with immersive effects – bubbles, smoke, and beloved characters. A great sit-down ride (but watch out for the cannon!).
17. In the Night Garden Magical Boat Ride 🌙
Gentle, colourful, and perfect for CBeebies fans. Sail through the Night Garden and spot Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, and friends. Relaxing, though the animatronics are due a refresh.
16. Battle Galleons 💦
Warning: you will get soaked! Fire water cannons from your boat at rival pirates while spectators on the shore fire back. An absolute must on a hot day.
15. Octonauts Rollercoaster 🐋
A decade on and still a little gem in CBeebies Land. Themed with bubbles and sea creatures, this is the perfect first coaster for budding thrill-seekers.
14. Runaway Mine Train 🚂
“Choo choo!” A timeless family coaster through Katanga Canyon. The interactive tunnel moment with the Rapids is legendary, and staff commentary has become a fan favourite.
13. Congo River Rapids 🌊
Bounce, splash, and spin around Katanga Canyon. The reinstated waterfalls add extra fun – though one unlucky rider usually ends up drenched!
12. Spinball Whizzer 🎡
Half coaster, half waltzer – this spinning ride is chaotic fun for the whole family. Its lower height restriction makes it a great step-up thrill.
11. Rita ⚡
Still packing a punch after all these years, Rita launches riders from 0 to 60mph in just 2.5 seconds. Best experienced at the front row – hold on tight!
10. Hex – The Legend of the Towers 🌳
Based on the chilling legend of the Chained Oak, Hex is a gothic madhouse attraction. Stunning theming and a unique story make this one a must-do.
9. Nemesis: Sub Terra 👽
This horror-themed indoor attraction immerses riders in the terrifying Nemesis lore. Expect a few jump scares and a storyline that ties back to Forbidden Valley.
8. The Curse at Alton Manor 👻
Emily Alton, possessed, haunts her family home in this atmospheric dark ride. Packed with easter eggs and creepy details, it’s one of the most beautifully themed rides in the park.
7. Oblivion ⬇️
The world’s first vertical drop coaster still delivers the fear. The pause over the edge, the misty tunnel drop – nothing compares. But brace yourself for those long load times!
6. Galactica ✈️
Once “Air,” Galactica makes you feel like you’re soaring through the skies. Theming could use a refresh, but the flying sensation is timeless.
5. Toxicator ☣️
Brand new in 2025 – and already a hit! The world’s tallest Top Spin features dual-sided thrills, splash elements, and great theming. A worthy successor to Ripsaw and not as brutal on the shoulders.
4. Thirteen 🌲
Part coaster, part drop-ride. Venture deep into the Dark Forest for a spooky woodland adventure that hides a secret free-fall surprise. Family-friendly thrills done right.
3. Wicker Man 🔥
This wooden coaster has become an instant classic. The fiery effigy, atmospheric preshow, and hidden Beornen language in the queue make it one of the most immersive rides in the UK.
2. The Smiler 😵💫
The world’s first 14-inversion rollercoaster twists, flips, and spins riders into “mind-manipulation.” A truly disorienting experience (though the queue line theming still divides opinion).
1. Nemesis Reborn 🩸
The legend returns! After a full retrack and retheme, Nemesis Reborn stormed back in 2024 to reclaim its throne. The raw G-force, inversions, smoke effects, and story make it the undisputed #1 Alton Towers ride of 2025 – as voted by you!
